Smragd Fly-in 2009
Well, initially it looked as if we would be complete this time but bad weather on some incoming routes told a different story. Anyway, better than reading something like "accident in IMC" in monday morning newspaper so we had a nice weekend with the teams who made it.Our Thüringen team already announced on the radio that their mission was accomplished: fresh genuine Thüringer Sausage was on board! While we took the aircraft on a local ride, the ground crew prepared the bbq for the later part of the day.
A Smaragd team was on duty, towing gliders into the sky at Rackith. We said HELLO with a wing rocking low pass on our way to Dessau. On the historic Dessau site we changedd media. From aircraft to bicycle which we used to get into the Junkers museum. Impressive site as you can take from the pictures. While in the area, we just had to visit the largest construction place in Europe: Schönefeld airport. From above you can see the huge dimension of what is happening. With a low pass we mad our way back to Oehna where we could smell the bbg sausage on long final already.
"Brandenburg hospitality", that is fresh sausage, local beer, a guitar and songs anybody can jump in. The cottages had been just around the corner so we extended that evening in good mood before taking a nap.
Sunday started with a nive breakfast on site and Rudi demonstrated his "Aerobatic pigeon" team. Quite impressive what these bird can do when being out of their barns.
